Steven’s Design Notes …….
A. Design Direction : Menswear, Tailored Sophistication
Anchored by the Celene sofa in two tones of plush charcoal fabric along with tailored accent chairs in jet black leather, the room is truly timeless. Walls are painted in a warm taupe, Mouse’s Back by Farrow and Ball or opt for textured wall coverings like Onyx paper by Bolta. Light fixtures and accessories draw the eye around the room with playful lines, echoing the rustic pattern of the area rug and drum table. I selected two very different styles of pillows, one with an exotic embroidery pattern, the other a luxurious velvet texture. Artwork is strong and graphic for a bold creative statement. Lastly, we added an oversized, lighted, floor mirror, this will balance the room’s deep colour tones. The mirror will bounce light back into the room and highlight the textures.

B. Design Direction : Pop Culture, Pretty in Pink …………
The Celene sofa takes center stage in lux royal blue velvet. In contrast, the room is painted a soft pastel pink by Benjamin Moore, aptly named Rose Accent. The butterfly patterned area rug anchors the room with deep ink tones. The oversized pop art inspired artwork canvas plays well with the colorful floral accents. I opted to keep all metal in soft gold tones for a touch of romance. To keep the design right on trend, we selected as many round or soft edges as possible (i.e., round coffee table, round brass table lamp, and the small “pretty in pink” drinks table). I love the sense of humor and personality created by the giant gold lip wall sculpture.
